Our Story

Born & Raised Southern

How one man's love for the phrases he grew up hearing in Union Springs, Alabama turned into the South's favorite expression brand.

It Started With a Laugh

It started the way most good things in the South do — sitting around, laughing with family. Tyler grew up in Union Springs, Alabama, surrounded by people who had a way with words that no dictionary could ever capture. The kind of phrases that made you snort sweet tea out your nose.

NeeNee (Denise) always had a saying ready for every situation. Big (Bill) could sum up life in a sentence. Sister Bear (Sara-Jane) kept everyone in stitches. Maxine — Gram to the grandkids — had wisdom wrapped in humor that stuck with you for life. And Lil' Don (Donnie), Dad himself, could deliver a one-liner that'd have the whole room rolling. Even Bug (Bailey) carried on the tradition, proving these sayings run in the blood.

"Bless your heart." "I'm fixin' to." "Well butter my biscuit." "Lord willin' and the creek don't rise." The phrases kept coming, each one funnier than the last. Tyler thought, "We should put these on a shirt." And that's how Shit Southerners Say was born — not in a boardroom, but from a lifetime of love and laughter in small-town Alabama.

"I didn't set out to build a brand. I set out to share the laughs I grew up with. Turns out, the whole South wanted in on the joke."

— Tyler, Founder

The Family Behind the Sayings

Every product you see is inspired by real people and real conversations. The folks who shaped Tyler's sense of humor — NeeNee, Big, Sister Bear, Gram, Dad, and Bug — are the heart and soul of this brand. Their words, their wit, and their way of turning everyday life into comedy gold is what makes Shit Southerners Say more than just merchandise. It's a family legacy, printed on premium goods for the whole South to enjoy.

More Than Merchandise

Shit Southerners Say isn't just about funny phrases on products — it's about celebrating a culture. The South has a way of saying things that nobody else can quite replicate. Our drawl, our double modals ("might could"), our ability to deliver the most devastating insults disguised as compliments — these are art forms, and they deserve to be worn with pride.

Every product we make is printed on demand through our partnership with Printful, which means no wasted inventory and no unnecessary waste. Each item is made specifically for you, with the same care and attention your grandmother puts into her cornbread recipe (and yes, sugar does belong in cornbread — fight us).
